MIGRANT workers were rewarded for a year of
linguistic hard work at Long Sutton Market House
Twenty-six students received English certificates after attending the course which
is funded in the local community and taught by tutor Kay Morley.
The students also learned more about how local bodies are working towards
integration via a series of presentations from NHS, council and police
officials including Chief Inspector Ian Gorst and Graham Scorthorne of South
Holland District Council.
Father Jonathan Sibley, who is chairman of the migrant workers’ forum, said:
“It was an enjoyable night with good presentations.
“Of the 52 who came to the lessons throughout the year 26 managed a term or
more, which was a good number.”
NHS, police, and district council officers spoke on the importance of
cohesion for migrant workers, who also picked up English certificates.
